Webinar: TES Modelling and Integration

To develop truly innovative solutions that allow communities to balance the grid one building at a time, they need to be easily integrable into the built environment. However, each building is unique, so modelling this integration may present a real challenge, not least since there is a wide array of tools and methodologies available.
To address this challenge, you are kindly invited to join our upcoming Knowledge Exchange Forum: TES Modelling and Integration! We will learn from the Hystore and ThumbsUp projects and discuss the challenges they faced while modelling the integration of their compact thermal energy storage units, the approaches, methods, and solutions they chose, as well as the lessons learned along the way, including the approaches of black-box, white-box, and grey-box modelling.
To get the discussion started, we will hear from:
- Dr. Mohammad Saffari, assistant professor at Dublin City College on behalf of the HYSTORE project
- Juan Carlos del Castillo García, engineer at CARTIF and technical coordinator of the ThumbsUp project
Why is modelling important for achieving higher integration of TES in buildings?
- For system designers and engineers, modelling is an important tool for creating efficient systems and control strategies. Models support designers to estimate, predict and optimise the performance of the building’s energy supplying systems, including technical, economic or environmental parameters.
- For decision makers and property owners, model results provide a base for decision-making and enable comparison of investment options and their potential outcomes.
